Convert Word Documents To ePub Format For Your eReader Or iBooks

Do you wish to have a Word document in the ePub format so that you can read it on the go on an iPad or Sony reader? Well, the good news is that it is now possible to fulfill this wish in just a few seconds.

Irrespective of whether you want to write your next novel, read the soft copy of your certificates on an eBook reader, or want to share some documents with your friends who can view them only on an eReader, you can make ePub copies of the documents directly from MS Word. Doesn’t this sound interesting? Let us check out more on the ‘why’ and ‘how’ aspects now!

Why Only ePub For eReaders Or iBooks

It is true that there are some other formats such as PDF to read the eBooks on eReaders. Although PDF is a more sophisticated way of sharing documents than .doc, it does not render a user-friendly look on the eReaders such as the Nook, Kindle, and Sony Reader.

By this, I mean you can find it difficult to wrap or read text. Further, PDF tends to consume a considerable amount of space on devices such as iPad. Moreover, not all eReaders support this format. As a result, a new open-source standard is out in the market for eBooks. This is none other than the ePub format that supports text wrapping, vector display, resizing, CSS styling, and XML on any portable device.

What Makes MS Word Save A Document In The EPub Format

We all know that Microsoft Word allows us to design paper documents. However, with its 2007 and 2010 versions, we can conclude that it has become a sharing tool as well apart from being a processor. Moreover, we mostly share documents via an electronic medium more than distributing them as hard copies. Apart from sharing documents online, MS Word now allows us to share the documents in an eReader-friendly format.

This has become possible with a free add-on called Aspose.Words that makes MS Word save files in the ePub format in just a few clicks. It is obvious that you have to first install this add-on from the Internet. However, you need to remember that this add-on is currently available for Word 2007 only. Nevertheless, you will be able to obtain it for Word 2010 in the near future.
