Who would not love to give a brand new look to one’s blog or web site? Visitors browsing your site will certainly like to see something different be it design, colors, etc. when they visit your blog. Even if the content is important, the look and the feel of your blog are equally significant.
Tips To Design A Theme For A Blogger Blog
With the Template Designer at your service, your blog can now look more professional. Compared to WordPress, Blogger has always been an underrated blogging platform, in spite of its free availability. However, now the Blogger Template Designer will allow you to customize your blogger blog according to your choice. You can use various colors through the color palette.
Getting Started With Template Designer
If you are accessing the Blogger Dashboard for the first time (since the introduction of the Template Designer) you will see a message alerting you about the Template Designer. Alternatively, you can access the Template Designer through the “Design” tab.
You will be able to see a click “Template Designer” with the word “New!” in red to attract your attention. Clicking the link will open the template page. It shows the current theme on your blog to the left, while the options for selecting newer themes are to the right.
Choose a new set of themes. It will display more themes beneath. Click the arrow pointing to the right. It will show up more themes. There is a total of six sets with each one of them having more to choose from.
If you like a certain theme, you can check how your blog will look when you apply it. There is the “Preview” option for this. It will give you an exact feel of your blog if you apply that theme. If you like it, save the changes and the theme is now permanently applied to your blog.
The second tab is “Background”. You can select a new color scheme from this option. You can even change the background image as well. iStockPhoto has made these images available exclusively for the blogger users. There is a huge list of images to select from a long list of categories to the left of your screen. You can select a matching color from the available color options if you so wish.
Layout is the third option on this page. You can select from premade layouts. Single column, two columns, both columns to either the left or right of the screen are some of the options you can choose from. “Body Layout”, “Footer Layout” and “Adjust Width”.
Note: The blog preview will show in the old designer view.
If you are still not satisfied with the changes you have done, there are more options for you in the “Advanced” tab. Here, you can change the fonts as well as the colors and these changes can be applied to the entire blog or selected headings only. If you are proficient in CSS, you can add your own custom coding through the CSS tab.
