It is very easy to get tired of the same logo whatever OS (operating system) you may be using. As far as the Mac is concerned, the Apple logo seems to stay there for eternity. It looks to be non-replaceable. Most certainly, having a unique startup screen or even designing a custom screen for your own sake is thrilling.

There is a way out to avoid seeing the same logo repeatedly whenever you switch on your Mac Notebook. However, remember, there is hardly any easy option to get you out of your boredom and change the screen in OS X. But with some simple, but effective tips up the sleeve, you can easily customize the screen the way you want it to be.
How To Customize Your Mac OS X Boot Logo
You can even play a joke on your friend by customizing his/her OS X screen without his/her knowledge. Yet, with a little precaution, you can certainly make the difference. To go about your ‘job’, you will basically need the following three things. An Intel Mac, BootXChanger, A new image of size.
Download BootXChanger and install it
When you begin to download BootXChanger, firstly, you will need the app called BootXChanger. You can download it free from the web. When you finish downloading this application online, you can further proceed to install it. To install it, simply drag it to the applications folder.

Now, when you launch the program, you will get a prompt or a warning that the program has been downloaded from the internet. You will get such a message only when you start the program for the first time. Just click on “Open” to proceed.

Change the Booting Image
To change the image, you will need to pick up the correct new image. For this there are some things that you will have to keep in mind. Only png and gif images support the transparency feature. So, if you wish to match the image with the background, use an image with either of these extensions. This feature does not support animated images. So using them is out of question.
The original logo is of 90 x 90 pixels. So you will need an image with the same dimension. If you use bigger pictures, it is still okay. However, it will be resized automatically and will not use up the full screen. On the other hand, if the image is excessively large, the program will ignore the entire image and will not display anything at all.

Once you have selected the preferred image, drag it from the finder window. Now, click on “Apply” and there will be now a new logo. In the next step, you will get a prompt to type your password. When all the installation is complete according to script, you will have to reboot the machine to see the new effects.
Images With BootXChanger
There is more fun with the app. When you download it, it comes with some pre-loaded images. Therefore, you can use any of the images that are available with the app by default. The app also allows you the way of changing the background color of the screen if you want to match it with that of the new logo.
